The Martin Luther King, Jr. All Children's Choir
The Raleigh based MLK All-Children's Choir was founded by Bruce Lightner
and Randy Shepard in December of 1984. It was conceived as a specific way
in which the youth of the local community could actively participate in the
first national birthday celebration for Dr. King. The Choir has grown steadily
and is now widely considered one of the best youth choirs in the nation.
The 130 voice ensemble is made up of children of multi races and creeds,
ranging in ages from 5 to 18 years old. One of the major focuses of the
Choir is to promote, through experience, the value of positive race relations
and to promote recognition and appreciation for all ethic groups. Academic excellence
is stressed through peer-group study & one-on-one mentoring. Developing life skills
and disciplinary training remains on-going with youth and parents.
The Choir performs over 50 engagements per year all over the nation.
For bookings call the Choir's 24 hour Hotline (919) 829-0049 or the
