The Asheville, Durham and Raleigh Chapters of the Martin
Luther King Celebration Committees are co-sponsoring a
bus trip to Selma, Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama and to
Memphis, Tennessee to retrace the steps of Dr. King and other
civil rights heroes. This area of the country was the
setting for many history-making achievements by African
Americans and courageous whites.
During the visit, we will relive the experience of the
bravery of the people who endured Bloody Sunday, then made
the harrowing Selma to Montgomery march for voting rights.
We will be better able to understand the inspiring words of
Dr. King who led the March as well as get to know the unsung
heroes, ordinary men and women who risked their lives to
register Blacks to vote. Rosa Parks' nonviolent protest in
Montgomery inspired a movement that helped give Blacks equal
access to public facilities. Birmingham and Memphis are also
two meccas of civil rights history.
The historic trip is scheduled for March 30 - April 2, 2010.
Trip prices start at $330 per person which
will include transportation, lodging, entrance to
historic sites and 3 nights hotel stay.
Quad Package: $330 per Person (4 To A Room)
